Gamerscore Update!

Over the last week, Microsoft had announced some big events in the world of gamerscore.

As of Feb 1st Microsoft announced via their Gamerscore Blog that retail games could add on 250 gamerscore worth of achievements through downloads, either for free or paid for. Arcade games could increase by 50 gamerscore via downloads as well. Crackdown, for example, came with 900 gamerscore worth of achievements on disc, with the rest included in free content further in the future.

As of Feb 6th Microsoft announced the Xbox Rewards program in collaboration with Old Spice. This program will award prizes for fulfilling certain gamerscore challenges, and prizes will vary based on what “Level” each gamer is put into. The first will be from 0 to 4,999 annual gamerscore change, the second will be 5,000 to 9,999, and the third will be 10,000 and higher. Gamers will be able to register starting Feb 12th, and will be assigned their Level based on gamerscore at time of registration. To keep the level, their annual gamerscore earned over the year must fit the prerequisites above.

The first challenge posed to gamers is to increase their gamerscore by 1,500 from Feb 12th to April 12th. The set of rewards for the first challenge and each level is as follows:

Microsoft will be monitoring this challenge for any foul play, and will deal with issues as necessary. The Xbox Rewards Program is only open to those above the age of 13 who are legal residents of the 50 United States, including D.C. while supplies last.
